Canon FS 200

I use MotionPro outside at tracks with my laptop. I had been capturing video using a Sony Cybershot which has a movie mode and removable memory stick pro duo. This combination offered fast download and setup so I was showing my students their playback on Motionpro within a couple minutes of boot up. The Sony Cybershot had limitations on video quality (yes I know it's really just a camera not camcorder) so I purchased a Canon FS 200 because of the removable memory card and improved video quality. Well the FS200 saves video in .mod format and when played back in this native format the image is jerky and not a true reflection of the athlete's performance. I've installed the various codec's supplied from this site but that didn't solve the issue. What seems to solve it is converting the file using SD Copy, opening the file in the Canon supplied software and then exporting the same file as mpg. The exported file then displays properly in MotionPro. This procedure takes several minutes and makes me think there's a better way to accomplish this task.

Anyone else using a camcorder that saves in .mod format? Do you have a good work around process that takes less time?

thanks!
